Our craftsmanship

A one-off design
shaped around your living space

Every Zen indoor sauna is imagined to sit harmoniously within your home. We adapt the dimensions, the design and the timbers to your taste and to your architectural constraints.

Our craftsmen design and build every bespoke sauna in Haute-Savoie, combining traditional skill with modern technology to guarantee beauty, comfort and durability.

Our manufacturing steps

From first contact to your first session

  1. 1

    Survey & measurements

Every project starts with a technical visit to understand your needs and assess the constraints of your space. We take precise measurements so the sauna fits your interior perfectly.

  2. 2

    Design & plan approval

Our designers create bespoke 3D plans of your future sauna, tailored to your taste and your space. Once approved, we prepare the handcrafting in our Haute-Savoie workshop.

  3. 3

    Manufacturing & installation by hand

Timber of French origin is worked with care to guarantee an elegant, lasting finish. The bespoke frames are assembled and insulated before the Swedish stove and the volcanic stones are fitted.

  4. 4

    Finishing touches & commissioning

The accessories — bucket, towels and aromatic spray — complete the installation. After a full test of the electrical system and the stove, your sauna is ready to use, at home, in complete safety.

Solid-wood indoor sauna built into a living space

Fine materials for lasting comfort

We select only European materials recognised for their quality and their durability.

Solid timber of French origin offers unmatched insulation and natural beauty, while the Harvia Swedish stoves, from the birthplace of the traditional sauna, deliver even heat and complete reliability.

Every detail, from the volcanic stones to the lighting, works towards a calm and authentic atmosphere.

Zen Sauna guided us through our project of creating an indoor sauna, from design to turnkey delivery (including handling the dedicated electrical line from the house's fuse box). We had a wide range of choices for the types of wood, doors, stove, and electrical equipment. The team adapted perfectly to the constraints of the space, and the craftsmanship was meticulous (for instance, the air intake and exhaust grills were custom-made). Throughout the project, communication was very responsive and smooth. Finally, our sauna was delivered within the timeframe stated in the quote. I highly recommend them!

Very satisfactory experience for the installation of a bespoke sauna with significant location constraints. Professional, high-quality, and prompt service for a very reasonable quote. Unfortunately, there was a small delivery error with the stove, but it was quickly resolved and the stove was replaced, so the customer service is doing its job as well. I highly recommend! 👍🏼

What is the difference between an infrared sauna and a traditional sauna?

A traditional sauna heats the surrounding air with a stove and volcanic stones, creating a dry heat that can reach 80 to 100 °C. It encourages deep sweating and profound muscle relaxation.

An infrared sauna heats the body directly using infrared panels. The temperature is gentler (50 to 60 °C) but the heat penetrates deeper into the tissue, which makes it ideal for daily use.

Which wood is best for an indoor sauna?

The choice of wood is decisive for the comfort, the durability and the look of your sauna. The best-suited species are:

  • Aspen: pale, resin-free and pleasant to the touch, perfect for contemporary interiors.
  • Red cedar: prized for its natural scent and its resistance to moisture.
  • Spruce: traditional and warm, ideal for a Nordic feel.

At Zen Sauna we use solid timber of French origin exclusively, dried and treated to withstand heat for years.

How long does it take to install a bespoke sauna?

Installing a bespoke Zen sauna depends on the dimensions, the type of model (indoor or outdoor) and the finishes chosen. On average, allow:

  • 1 to 2 days for construction on site,
  • then 1 day for full installation by our team.

Once the electrical commissioning and the stove tests are done, your sauna is ready to use straight away.

Can a sauna be installed in a flat?

Yes, provided the room is well ventilated and has a suitable electrical supply. Our bespoke indoor saunas fit easily into a bathroom, a dressing room or a dedicated space.

We carry out a tailored technical study to guarantee that your project is both feasible and safe, with no compromise on comfort.

How do I look after an indoor sauna?

Looking after a sauna is simple, but essential if it is to keep its looks and its lifespan.

  • Air the sauna after every use.
  • Wipe the benches and walls with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive product.
  • Avoid standing water and check the seals regularly.
  • Every six months, sand the wood lightly to refresh the surface.

The materials we use — solid French timber and Nordic equipment — make this upkeep easy while guaranteeing exceptional durability.
